Tenants of housing block in Woking evacuated due to 'structural defects'

A building managed by Southern Housing reported to be suffering from structural defects has been evacuated as it is currently “not safe to be occupied” by residents.

Troy Francis, corporate director at Southern Housing, said in a statement given to residents: “This is a precautionary and, at present, temporary measure, but the advice we have received is clear — the safest approach is to evacuate the building to allow for further investigations.”

The company confirmed that concerns are around the composition of concrete used in the construction of the building, and that the concrete in the building is not RAAC related.
